What is Shorinji Kempo?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shorinji Kempo is a Japanese martial arts established in 1947 by Doshin So as a discipline in which an individual can strive to develop their own physical, mental and spiritual growth. In addition to learning the self defense techniques - the punches, kicks and wrist locks, etc- each student is encouraged to develop their mind and character. more

How Do I Join?

At the Kuala Lumpur Branch, each class begins with the chinkon session, in which either the Branch Master or a selected kenshi leads the class in reciting the Seigan, Seiku and Shinju - the Oath, the Meditation and the Creed. more

Shorinji Kempo was established by Doshin So as a physical and mental discipline, a gyo, whose main purpose was to build character. As such, Shorinji Kempo has never been about trying to be the toughest fighter. more

The Gassho Rei

In Shorinji Kempo, we do not use the Japanese style bow. Instead, we salute our seniors and each other using the gassho rei. This greeting is performed by holding the left and right palms held together more
